Agri sector termed backbone of economy

JHANG – The Punjab government is utilising its all-possible resources to develop agriculture sector which is undoubtedly the backbone of the national economy, said MPA Sikindar Sultan.
He expressed these views while addressing a prize distribution function after Youth Festival contests arranged by District Agriculture Department in Jinnah Hall here the other day.
The MPA said that the agriculture sector was playing its vital role in food security, poverty reduction and sustainable development. He said that the Punjab government was introducing new policies and new technology and was giving billion of rupees to farmers as subside to promote the sector.  He said that vast opportunities of exports existed in agriculture and livestock sectors. Later, he distributed prizes and certificates among winner of the competition.
EDO Agricultural Ch Nazeer Hussain Javed, DO-Agriculture Shaikh Anwar ul Haq, DDO-Agriculture Ch Akhtar, Doctor Tahir, Doctor Mubark Ali, Agri officer Syed Abid Hussain Shah Agri Officer East Shaikh Talah, Field Officer and a large number of farmers and citizens were present on the occasion.
