MIRPUR (AJK) - The two-day workshop on “Advanced Cardiac Life Support” concluded here on Monday - with a unanimous call to raise awareness and establish knowhow among the common man as to how first aid could be delivered to any cardiac victim or in case of any other emergency to save human life.The workshop was hosted by the state-run Kashmir Institute of Cardiology (KIC) Mirpur in collaboration with Shafa International Hospital Islamabad. It was participated by dozens of senior and junior doctors from various parts of AJK besides the commons engaged with the reputed social works organizations. Eminent Kashmiri social workers Haji Muhammad Salim and founder of the Kashmir Cardiology Centre chaired the workshop.Facilitators, comprising of seasoned medical specialists and cardiologists including Dr Aurangzeb Alamgir, Dr Raza Gorsi, Dr Huram Javed, Dr Huram Zubair, eminent social worker Haji Muhammad Salim, human rights activist and analyst Junaid Insari and others, shared their expertise on the topic depicting details about saving a human life in case of any heart attack.The facilitators imparted training to the participants with the help of social and multi-media.The speakers called for a Board of Governors by the AJK government to run the KIC in true perspective. They emphasized the need for immediate issuance of a notification by the AJK government to this effect. It is worthwhile to mention here that the KIC was established by a local philanthropist and Britain-based Kashmiri expatriate Haji Muhammad Salim about two decades ago. The Institute has been handed over to the AJK Health Department but it still lacked required facilities because of the lack of interest by the AJK government.
