Armed forces fighting extremism in synergy: CJCSC

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Khalid Shamim Wynne Friday said the Armed Forces of the country are fully equipped to fight with the extremist elements, which are trying to challenge peace and national harmony.
In the recent security scenario, where the extremist elements are trying to disrupt our peace and harmony, our responsibilities have increased manifold. In this situation our Defence Forces in synergy are fighting this menace, he said while addressing the joint passing out parade of graduates from different courses at Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Academy here.
Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force Tahir Rafique Butt was also present at the graduating ceremony of 74 Engineering Course, 88 Air Defence and Commissioning Parade of 132 GD (P), 78 Engineering Course, 13 A&SD and 1 Navigation Courses.
General Wynne said Pakistan is a peace-loving country and always follows the policy of friendly relations and mutual goodwill with all countries of the world. The CJCSC appreciating role of Pakistan Air Force said that it has effectively supported Pakistan Army and Pakistan Navy in their efforts to safeguard national borders and maintain peace in the country.
He said PAF possess a variety of potent military equipment, adding New additions are always well-catered for to maintain it as a strong instrument of our national defence. He asked the passing out lot that being the custodians of aerial frontiers of our sacred homeland You will be required to operate and maintain the sophisticated and expensive aircraft and other equipment in the highest state of operational readiness.
He said being the inheritors of the legacy of brave deeds of the illustrious predecessors, the younger generations in the Defence Forces have all the potential to emulate their deeds and set new examples of valour and dignity.     
A total of 49 Under Training Officers and 14 cadets were graduated whereas 121 Cadets were commissioned on the occasion.
The chief guest awarded branch insignias to the graduating officers and Aviation Cadets and also distributed trophies among the distinction holders. The chief guest awarded Quaid-e-Azam Banner to the Champion Squadron - No.1 Squadron of the Academy. Pilot Officer Asad Iqbal of 74th Engineering Course clinched the Chief of the Air Staff Trophy for Best Performance in Engineering and Pilot Officer Rizwana Kausar won the Sword of Honour for Overall Best Performance in College of Aeronautical Engineering. Trophy for Overall Best Performance in 88 Air Defence course was received by Aviation Cadet Asad Iqbal.
Cadet Attiqa wrote a new history in PAF Academy Risalpur by successfully landing the paramotor glider carrying 32-KG weight on her back in front of the dais along with her two male counterparts. Spectacular air-show by the known Sherdils of PAF academy presented aerobatics to attract massive applause by the participants.
