JI holds protest demo against Karachi killings

PESHAWAR - Like other parts of the province, the activists of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), district Peshawar, staged a protest demonstration against the ongoing target killing and uncertainty in Karachi on Friday. The protestors led by JI KP General Secretary Shabir Ahmad Khan, former MNA and JI Fata Ameer Shaibzada Haroonur Rashid, JI KP Secretary Information Israrullah and other leaders were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the target killing and extortionists. They also chanted slogans against the coalition parties in the govt for failing to restore peace in the city. The protest demonstration was convened on the call of JI Central Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan across the province. The protestors gathered in front of historical Mohabbat Khan Mosque and moved towards Chaowk Yadgar. The protestors were waving party flags and were also chanting full-throated slogans against the target killing, Bhatta Khori and ongoing unrest in Karachi. They chanted slogans against the ruling parties of the Sindh govt including PPP, ANP and MQM. They held the political parties responsible for the unrest. Addressing the protestors on this occasion, JI KP General Secretary Shabir Ahmad Khan said that Karachi was the heart of Pakistan and was a 'mini-Pakistan, where people of different races and colours belonging to different localities were living to earn livelihoods for their dependents. He said that Karachi was a hub of trade and business and that played a role of backbone of the national economy. The enemies wanted to economically paralyse the country, he said, holding the PPP, ANP and MQM responsible for the ongoing target killing and bloodshed of innocent people. He maintained that the killers turned the living life an uphill task for the Karachites, adding that every citizen of the country felt deep concern. He blamed that those playing politics on the basis of race and language turned the city into a killing city. Shabir assured Karachites that in this time testing situation the entire nation was with them. He added that the said political parties were playing in the hands of alien powers including American CIA and Israli agents. Besides, other leaders also addressed the protestors on the occasion. Later the protestors peacefully dispersed.
