KHYBER AGENCY - The security forces in a clash with militants on Monday night killed four terrorists in Malak Shaga area of Khyber Agency’s tehsil Jamrud.
Sources in security forces said Frontier Corps (FC) men were on their routine patrolling at 2:00 am in the area, when they were ambushed by militants. Troops retaliated and four militants were killed on the spot. The bodies of the militants were shifted to Jamrud Hospital for identification. However, the casualties could not be confirmed from any militant faction.
Authorities, on the next morning, imposed curfew and launched a search operation in Ghundi and adjacent areas. Scores of suspects were detained and sent to forces contentment for interrogation, official and local sources informed.
Meanwhile, the security forces, through a notice issued to Koki Khel tribe, have asked the tribal elders to hand them over 70 militants or be ready for a full-fledged military operation in Jamrud.
Assistant Political Agent (APA) Jamrud Roshan Mehsud said more troops had been deployed and extra security measures had also been taken in Jamrud to apprehend the militants, therefore, they had initiated rapid actions in the area in form of attacks on Nato supply tankers, forces and polio workers.
Tribal elite Malik Faizullah Jan said the elders of Koki Khel tribe through a series of Jirgas are in touch with government and soon all the issues will be settled and peace will be restored.
It is to be mentioned here that in the last few months due to poor law and order situation and constant search operations to hunt down militants hundreds of families have fled from Jamrud and taken refuge in downtown afreas.
INP adds: Local administration reported that the killed terrorists belonged to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Separately, body of a local person was recovered from Sur Kamar area of Jamrud. The victim, identified as Younas Khan, was killed in a gun attack.
The attack came at a time when the security forces are fighting against the local and foreign militants in North Waziristan Agency.
