PESHAWAR - Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan asked the federal government to hand over the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in order to control the frequent breakdown of electricity.
He stated this while addressing a ceremony held in connection with introduction of “Right to Information Bill” in Peshawar on Thursday. Central General Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Jhangir Tareen, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Parvez Khattak, Provincial President Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Azam Khan Hoti, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial General Secretary Khalid Maswood, Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qesar, Senior Minister Siraj-ul-Haq, MPAs and other party workers were also present on the occasion.
Imran said that he would always raise his voice for the rights of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and like other so-called leadership of the country will not sell Pakhtuns in exchange of dollars.
Imran Khan said that the upcoming local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be a role model for the rest of the country and this would be the first election in the history of Pakistan, in which biometric system would be used aimed to ensure transparency in the electoral process. He said that election commission would also use it on trial basis on December 28, 2013.
He said that they have also invited judiciary to supervise the electoral process in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that elections of May 11, 2013 were bogus and even those who had won it declared them bogus.
He maintained that they have taken step for New Pakistan and the time is not far when the entire country will follow the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
To a question regarding effectiveness of blockade of NATO supply, he said that NATO supply is an effective tool for stopping drone attacks. He said that if the blockade was not effective then why the US defence secretary requested for opening the supply line.
He also regretted over the killing of security forces and civilian in North Waziristan Agency and demanded enquiry of this incident. He said that PTI government is collecting data of those affected people who were migrated to Bannu and vowed to provide all possible support to the victims.
PTI NOT SERIOUS IN SOLVING
PROBLEMS: SHERPAO
Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao Thursday alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was not serious in resolving problems being faced by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as not a single development project was initiated in the province during last six months. He said that PTI had totally failed to fulfil a single promise that it had pledged during last elections with the people of this province.
Aftab Sherpao said this while addressing a news conference after the joint meeting of central and provincial executive councils of his party on Thursday. He said that coalition government in KPK was pushing the province towards isolation on international level by adopting the politics of confrontation and agitation.
On this occasion, the QWP executive council bodies dissolved provincial and district organizations of the party to launch membership campaign from January 1, 2014 and hold intra-party polls in February. Former Senator Haji Ghufran was nominated as provincial chief organiser of the party while Justice (Retd) Shah Jehan was made as chief election commissioner for intra-party elections.
“It is crystal clear that on one side heads of various states and foreign investors were visiting Punjab province to boost up the image and economy of the province while on the other side traders and industrialists were leaving the province due to poor law and order,” he explained.
He maintained that PTI Chief Imran Khan was not interested in resolving the problems of people of KPK who voted him to rule the province for improving governance and brining a change but there is no change on the ground.
He alleged that law and order is deteriorating while trend of kidnapping for ransom, extortion and lawlessness in the province are also increasing day by day. He said that the provincial government is so for running on consultants and working groups where the ministers and elected representatives had no role.
He said that even the provincial assembly was lacking standing committees and everything has been running on adhocism. Aftab Sherpao reminded the PTI government to take disciplinary action against the corrupt and dishonest ministers in the present provincial cabinet.
