ISLAMABAD - Pakistan on Thursday expressed the hope that the Afghan and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) authorities would take corrective measures to prevent the attacks repeatedly carried out by militant on some parts of Pakistan from Afgh-anistan’s bordering provinces of Kunar and Nuristan.“It is a serious issue. We are actively engaging Afghan authorities and ISAF. We hope some corrective measures would be taken in this respect,” Foreign Office Spokesman Moazzam Khan told the weekly press briefing.Answering a question about the new rules of engagements between Pakistan and the United States and the contents of MoU related to NATO supplies approved by the federal cabinet, the spokesman said it would be in line with parliamentary recommendations, hoping the two countries would sign it soon. When asked whether Islamabad has lodged a formal protest with the United Kingdom on fake visa scam, Khan said since it was not a bilateral matter between the two countries and was related to a private magazine, therefore there was no need to lodge a protest with the UK government. To a question about situation in Myanmar, the spokesman said Pakistan was deeply concerned about it, adding that the situation there had now relatively improved. When his attention was drawn towards media reports that Pakistan’s foreign mission in United States had given briefing to some American leaders on regional security, the spokesman described it a normal part of on-going efforts of the embassy to keep abreast the host country about these developments. The spokesman rejected the media reports that the schedule of the visit by Afghanistan High Peace Council’s delegation to Pakistan had been finalised. “Both the countries are still working out the time and dates of the visit,” he concluded.
