Dr Shakil Afridi to be shifted to some high security prison for his security

Dr Shakil Afridi, who has been sentenced to 33 years in jail for assisting the American in getting DNA tests of Osama bin Laden family is to be shifted into a high security prison out of Peshawar. Sources said that Shakil Afridi, presently in Peshawar jail will be shifted to some other prison on fears that he could be got released by some sort of clandestine operation. A high level meeting of the officials of KPK Home Department and Jail officials has been convened for Monday, 28th May  to discuss where Dr Shakil Afridi could be safety held. Shakil Afridi also faces threats from Taliban. Many of them are being held in different jails in KPK and because of the doctor’s support to the Americans, they have vowed to avenge the death of bin Laden.  Maulana Soofi Muhammad and his followers are also in Peshawar jail. To ward off any security threat to Dr Shakil, light and heavy equipment has been deployed on the boundary walls of Peshawar Central Jail.  Internal security has also been beefed up and no one is being allowed to the cell where Afridi is being held.
