MULTAN – The district police rounded up at least seven alleged terrorists here on Friday, involved in killing of two cops deployed at the residence of a judge and a bomb blast at the congregation of Shia community.Addressing a news conference here at his office, CPO Amir Zulfiqar told the journalists that three terrorists had a link with Qari Imran Group of Tehrik Taliban Pakistan while four others belonged to banned Sipah-e-Sahaba, who were involved in sectarian violence and other activities.The terrorists from Qari Imran Group were identified as Naveedullah alias Asim Niazi, Muhammad Asif Raza alias Rana Saqib and Nasir Hussain alias Syed Murad while the ones from Sipah-e-Sahaba included Master Ghulam Murtaza, Yasir, Zahid Niazi and Arif Hussain. The CPO revealed that Naveedullah, M Asif Raza and Nasir Hussain were involved in attack on cops deployed at the residence of Justice Jahangir Arshad on March 28th. Two constables namely Abdul Malik and Naveed embraced martyrdom in the attack while the accused fled. ‘The arrested terrorists have told that during interrogation that they tried to snatch rifles from the cops and shot them on resistance’, he added. He said that the terrorists also had links with Jaish-e-Muhammad and they acquired training from a camp in Waziristan. He stated that the terrorists were found involved in many terrorism-related incidents. Police recovered one Kalashnikov, two pistols, bullets, mobile phone and a car from their possession. Referring to the terrorists from banned Sipah-e-Sahaba, the CPO said that they planted a bomb on the bank of Naubahar Canal on July 18th when members of Shia sect were performing a ritual there. The bomb went off and many people sustained injuries and a case was registered by Seetal Mari police.He said that five other members of the gang were still at large and police teams were trying to capture them.
