Benazir Bhutto paid tributes


BAHAWALPUR/HAFIZABAD/TOBA TEK SINGH - The fourth death anniversary of former PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto was observed here Tuesday with due respect.
The PPP workers arranged different programmes on the occasion to mark the day. The speakers on the occasions paid rich tributes to the ex-prime minister over her memorable sacrifices for the democracy and country.
Quran Khawani and Fateha were also offered for the departed souls of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, Nusrat Bhutto, Murtza Bhutto and Shahnawaz Bhutto.
PPP district Secretary Information Muhammad Saleem Bhatti paid glowing tribute to the late party leader and said that Benazir Bhuttod was a staunch believer in emancipation of oppressed and manipulated women and took substantial measures to ensure their economic development.
He said that the initiatives including the First Women Bank, Women Police Stations, Lady Health Workers and Social Action Programmes had played their roles in reducing gender disparities in the society and it was a big achievement for women by the former PPP chairperson.
Saleem said that BB’s struggle for the cause of humanity had won a special place for her in the hearts and minds of the people. He reiterated the government’s commitment towards the cause of masses empowerment. He said, “The recent parliamentary enactments, spearheaded by the PPP government, would be followed up and strictest implementation would be ensured to save poor masses and women particularly from imperialist, feudal lord’s brutal, social customs and human rights violations.”
Bhatti commented that the days had been passed when masses were considered weaker human beings, adding, the progress of the country was also linked to conman people’s active participation in all spheres of national activity. He said everyone among us would have to follow Benazir Bhutto’s footsteps for building a better society and nation.
“Today, as we are remembering our late leader as a symbol of women empowerment, I want you to make a pledge of continuous struggle till making the country according to her vision of development of all the members of society,” he concluded.
TOBA TEK SINGH: The PPP city chapter paid homage and tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on her 4th death anniversary here on Tuesday.
The local leadership of all PPP and a large number of workers attended a public meeting and offered Fateha for their charismatic leader, who was assassinated on December 27, 2007.
While addressing the gathering, PPP City General Secretary Rana Khalid Mahmood said that BB had dedicated her life to the service of the nation and never bowed before any anti-democratic power. As a leader of the downtrodden, she struggled for the rights of the people of all provinces. Although the assassins cut short her life at a time when people needed her guidance the most, one still feels her presence around, he added.
On the occasion, Razaul Haq Joyala, Razzaq Butt, Farooq Kala and Muzaffar Khurshid also addressed the gathering. They said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was unique in her wisdom, vision, commitment and achievement. She struggled for the rights of the people of all the provinces of the country.

PPP Hafizabad General Secretary Muhammad Arshad, Vice President Pir Muhammad Safdar Kharal, Malik Phool, Abdul Rehman Jaral urged the participants to unite so as to complete the mission of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. They pledged that the PPP workers would foil evil designs of undemocratic forces which want to derail democracy.
