PESHAWAR - The unofficial Ruet-e-Hilal committee of Qasim Ali Khan Mosque announced late on Sunday night that Shawal moon had been sighted in different parts of the province and Eidul Fitr would be observed on Monday (today).
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai which was attended by a number of religious scholars. Mufti Shahabuddin said that local ruet committees of different districts had received credible evidence of sighting the Shawal moon. He said 48 witnesses said they had sighted the moon.
After testifying the evidence the committee decided that first Shawal will fall on July 28 (Monday).
Similarly, Eidul Fitr will be celebrated in Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, DI Khan, Hangu, Laaki Marwat, Karak, Charsadda, Bannu, North and South Waziristan, Khyber, Bajur and Mohmand Agencies. Afghan refugees would also celebrate Eid today.
Eid will also be celebrated in Saudi Arabia and Gulf states on Monday.

MEETS TODAY
APP adds: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Karachi today sighting of the crescent of Shawwal-ul-Mukarram 1435 AH (Eidul Fitr).
The meeting, to be chaired by Chairman Mufti Muur Rehman, will be held in the building of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) camp office Karachi, said a press release by Ministry of Religious Affairs And Interfaith Harmony.
The meeting of Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) will be held in the building of Ministry of Religious Affairs while other zonal committees will meet at various places in their respective areas.

Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman will announce the decision of crescent sighting or otherwise subsequently on the basis of information received after evaluating the evidences.
Monitoring Desk adds: The moon sighting committees of Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates have announced sighting of the Shawal moon and Eidul Fitr will be celebrated today (Monday).
Iraq and Jordan have also declared Monday as the day of Eid, reported a private TV channel.
