Government not to suspend mobile phone services on Eid

ISLAMABAD-The Ministry of Interior Affairs has decided not to suspend mobile phone service in any part of the country on occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

According to media reports the ministry was of the view that suspension of cell phone service adds to the misery of people. Besides it is also not a solution to suspend the mobile service, sources added citing the interior ministry stance.

It is learnt that the Sindh government had requested the federal government to suspend mobile phone service in parts of the province in view of security threats, however the federal government rejected the proposal.

The interior ministry replied to the Sindh government that additional security measures would be adopted instead of provisional suspension of cell phone service.

“No city will face mobile network suspension on occasion of Eid,” said the ministry.
