Knackered train ignites protest

OKARA - The engine of Allama Iqbal Express remained knackered at for more than three hours at the Okara Railways Station. The out of order train added to the miseries of the passengers who were already facing scorching heat, thereby stirring up protest demonstration there. However, majority of the passengers had to reach their respective destinations by other sources. CLEAN-UP DRIVE: Operation against grabbers has been started in Okara. The team includes among others Okara Division Assistant Commissioner Asif Rauf Bhutti, Tehsildar Khalid Siddique Kamiana, Tehsil Municipal Officer Imran Asghar Sindhu and encroachment Inspector Khalid Mehmood Naz. On the first day, encroachments were demolished at Purana Kunda, Tonga stand, and Sabri Colony. DCO Capt (r) Saif Anjum, Administrator Malik Zaheer Abbas warned the grabbers to remove encroachments on their own. BBs anniversary: Under the supervision of Peoples Labour Bureau, a ceremony regarding birthday of ex-prime minister Benazir Bhutto will be held todayon Benazir Road. The former state minister Syed Samsam Bukhari, MNA Chaudhry Sajjadul Hussan, former MPA Mohammad Ashraf Khan Sohna, MNA Rai Ghulam Mujtaba Kharel will attend the ceremony. Workers rally for free units: Wapda employees on Saturday went on strike against withdrawal of free units facility for the Wapda employees. Having locked up Wapda offices, hundreds of employees carrying banners took out a rally which reached outside the Press Club passing through different bazaars. Addressing the gathering, the speakers said if free power units were not restored they would stage a sit-in at GT Road and rail track. They demanded free electricity units restoration. TRADERS ISSUES: The president of Anjuman-e-Tajran, Chaudhry Saleem Sadiq said that the economic stability is the solution to problems of traders. He also offered his full cooperation for the betterment of the country and Okara trade community. He urged the rulers to resolve the traders problems.
