31 couples tie the knot

Our Staff Reporter DASKA - As many as 31 deserving couples tied the knots during a mass wedding ceremony held here on Tuesday under the auspices of local NGO Young Blood Foundation Daska. The couples included 24 Muslim and 7 Christian couples. It was the biggest ever event of its kind in the history of Daska city. Local parliamentarians including former MNA Syed Iftikharul Hassan Shah, former provincial minister Miss Shaheen Atiqur Rehman, ANF Punjab Deputy Director Miss Maria, senior vice chairman Sialkot Press Club Abid Hussain Mehdi, President Daska Bar Association MAsif Bajwa, officials of the Social Welfare Department, senior journalists from Daska, Sialkot and Gujranwala and notables, NGO Chairman Bashir Ahmed Naz, President Tanveer Ahmed Mughal, general secretary Haji Zahid Jehangir and Chairperson NGOs Women Wing Prof Mrs Mumtaz Chatta whole-heartedly participated in the mass-wedding which was the 6th annual event arranged by the NGO. A warm rosy welcome was accorded to as many as 31 Baraats by the people of Daska upon their arrival at the lawns of local marriage hall. More than 3,000 people from all walks of life attended the mega event.
