NAB initiates probe into ‘irregularities’



PESHAWAR - National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on receiving several complaints against postal authorities initiated an inquiry into the matter to ascertain the alleged irregularities.
The NAB office received several complaints against the officials of the General Post Office (GPO) with the allegations that the recipient of the money is charged Rs 100 to Rs 200 per person by the concerned postal employees. While on the other hand, money is embezzled through fake receipts, that not delivered the needy persons at all, a release issued by NAB (KPK) here on Friday.
The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) is aimed to distribute money among the poor and needy individuals in the country. Under this program money is released to the Postal Services department for distribution through local post office network.
It was informed that NAB authorities initiated an inquiry into the matter to ascertain the factual position and find to all those involved in the scam of the Postal Services department.
Obviously, the post office staff stands responsible for releasing the money to the deserving and qualified persons upon having genuine receipts, added in the release.
