Zero tolerance for electricity theft: DG FIA

Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Saud Ahmed Mirza Monday said that zero tolerance would be shown towards those involved in electricity theft.
Chairing a high level meeting of officers of FIA and distribution companies of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), Saud Mirza said that a special team of FIA had been constituted on the instructions of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to lead campaign against power theft.
The DG FIA said that electricity thieves would be dealt with iron hands. Saud Mirza said that nobody was above law and the FIA would take concrete steps against those stealing electricity.
“It was a national cause to check electricity theft and every body should participate in the campaign,” he said.
Saud Mirza said that the government’s stance was very clear on this criminal activity and no leniency would be shown to the violators of law.
He appealed to the citizens to immediately share information with the FIA team and inform them about persons involved in electricity theft.
The FIA has advertised lists of names and telephone numbers which can be contacted for action against power thieves, he added.
