Rs9.18b tax-free Sialkot budget approved

The City District Government of Sialkot (CDGS) has approved Rs9.18 billion tax free development-oriented budget for the fiscal year 2014-15.
DCO Nadeem Sarwar told the newsmen that it was a tax free budget as no new tax had been levied or the ratio of any existing tax had been increased.
Sharing salient features of the budget, DCO Nadeem Sarwar added that the CDGS had allocated Rs915.6 million for the health sector development in the district as the total budgetary outlay was 19 percent more than the last year's allocation for health sector. He said that Rs0.3 million would be given to each Basic Health Unit (BHU) for purchasing medicines, while Rs5 million have been allocated for repair to the buildings of THQs, RHCs and BHUs in the district's all the four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils here.
He said that grant of the health department's vaccinators under the POL head had also been increased to 100 percent.
The DCO narrated that the CDGS had also increased the budget for education sector development in Sialkot district up to eight percent in this budget as compared to the last year's budget, saying that Rs210 million have been allocated  for providing the better  and quality educational facilities to the local students at local level. He said that Rs10 million would be spent on the repairing of the old buildings of the government schools in Sialkot district during fiscal year 2014-15.
Rs8 million have been allocated for the promotion of sports, Rs3 million for Civil Defence, Rs40 million for repairing of the dilapidating roads, Rs2 million for the repairing and reconstruction of the buildings of the veterinary hospitals and dispensaries and Rs7.5 million have been allocated for the repairing of different government owned buildings in Sialkot district.
