UoS refutes news item on syndicate meeting

SARGODHA
The University of Sargodha (UoS) has refuted a news item appeared in some national dallies (Not The Nation) on Oct 27, reporting that some members of the UoS syndicate on Saturday refused to approve various appointments made by the vice chancellor and demanded an inquiry into the matter.
A spokesman for the University categorically denied that no such matter ever took place in the syndicate meeting.
However, an MPA enquired about a contractor and was informed that the contractor fraudulently attempted to get a payment worth Rs5.3 million which was refused by the VC. The spokesman said that the VC took a serious notice of this irregularity.
When MPAs - Malik Waris Kallo and Ghazzanfar Abbas Cheena were contacted they denied the contents of the news item and reposed their confidence in VC Dr Akram Ch and his merit policy.
The spokesman pointed out that neither the VC nor any authorised person of the UoS was contacted for their comment or version about the news item. The UoS spokesman stated that it seemed some unscrupulous elements wanted to create confusion by reporting such baseless stories.
