ISLAMABAD - JAVAID-UR-RAHMAN - As the relations between the ruling PPP and its coalition partner MQM are now fast coming on previous track after the later withdrew ultimatum to sit on opposition benches, so a fresh round of discussion over Sindh People’s Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO) 2012 between the top leaders of both the parties is expected very soon.
President Asif Ali Zardari is expected to hold meeting with MQM Chief Altaf Hussain during his stay in London in order to discuss Sindh People’s Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO) 2012 and some other matters, said sources within MQM while talking to TheNation.
They said though proper meeting schedule between two top leaders is still unconfirmed yet the main discussion of expected meeting between two leader would be on Sindh People’s Local Govt Ordinance (SPLGO) 2012. Sources said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is vying to convince its important allied partner - MQM - to revise some clauses of the draft to accommodate reservations of ANP, PML-Q, NPP and others, but matter is still not resolved.
MQM senior member shared Sindh People’s Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO) 2012 would be presented in Sindh Assembly (SA) soon after the return of some PPP member who are currently abroad. Sindh Assembly (SA) will be called on their return to present it with maximum majority, he added.
It is relevant to mention here that SPLGO 2012 draft was recently finalized after hectic parleys and consultations between PPP and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). Whereas, PML-Q, ANP, PML-F and NPP strongly opposed the clauses in it.
Although both MQM and PPP trying to convince other political factions on this draft yet other concerned parties are not comfortable with it and have submitted application for sitting on opposition benches, they added.
