A youth was killed while his friend sustained critical injuries after a tractor-trolley hit their motorcycle near Luban Wala on Kala Khatai Road here on Sunday.
According to details, two friends namely Mushtaq and Sarwar were on the way to Narang from Shahdra on a motorcycle. When they reached near Luban Wala a recklessly driven tractor-trolley ran them over. Resultantly Mushtaq died on the spot while Sarwar sustained critical injuries and was shifted to hospital. The Ferozewala Police are looking into the matter.
Meanwhile, an expatriate was looted by three highwaymen in the guise of customs officials near Housing Colony on Lahore Road on Sunday. According to information, Khadim Hussain was on the way to his hometown Samundari in a taxi car on return from Saudi Arabia. Reaching near Housing Colony, an official vehicle in which three riders in uniform stopped the expatriate. After searching his luggage they took away Saudi currency worth 1000 riyal and other valuables from him.
The Housing Colony Police have started investigation against the fake custom officials. On the other hand, the Factory Area Police claimed to have arrested three drug traffickers along with 4 kgs of fine quality hashish. The drug smugglers are identified as Shakeel, Shahbaz and Irfan.
vocational training institutions lauded: The Vocational Training Institutions have been playing a vital role in imparting electrical, computer, dress-making and beautician courses free of cost to poor male and female youth to alleviate poverty and enable them to stand on their feet, said Institute Kolo Tarar Principal Mian Nisarul Hassan Aamir.
He said that six hundred male and female had been provided with technical trainings and the District Zakat Committee was providing Rs500 as stipend to each and every student. Moreover, the Zakat Committee also pay monthly fee of Rs2000 per student to the VTI. He said that new classes would start functioning from January 1.
