SKARDU (Online) - As many as 20 government employees are feared to be dead after being hit by an avalanche at Hussaini Top in Tehsil Galtari of District Skardu. As per details, the government servants was returning to Galtari from Toorghon village after performing their official duties when an avalanche struck them while they were crossing the Hussaini Top on Saturday, situated at 15,500 feet above sea level. According to the local residents, a heavy avalanche was seen falling down from the top, but they had no information about the victims. When contacted, the offices of commissioner and deputy commissioner Baltistan said they had no knowledge about such incident. Police Control Room and Galtari Police Station staff were also found ignorant over the issue. It is pertaining to note theta land route of Galtari stands disconnected from the other parts of the country for the last several months.
