Gepco issues deadline for dues clearance

SIALKOT - The Gepco has released a list of 21 big its defaulter government institutions, besides giving them a deadline of May 31, 2011 for clearing their outstanding arrears amounting Rs258.01 million, saying that the electricity connections will be of cut off of these defaulter government institutions after the deadline if they fail to clear their dues. According to the Gepco officials, the Gepco has released a list of those government institutions/departments which owes Rs1 million or more than that to the utility till April 2011. The Gepco officials added that the Pakistan Rangers has to pay Rs16.08 million, district courts Rs2.4 million, police Rs15.08 million, Pakistan Railways (PR) Rs13 million, jail Rs6 million, irrigation department Rs6.03 million, District Health Office Sialkot Rs8.8 million, Govt Allama Iqbal memorial DHQ Hospital Rs1.1 million, Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Rs59.04 million, District Health Office Hafizabad Rs1.3 million and TMA Wazirabad owes Rs6 million to Gepco. The Gepco officials added that the heads of these departments have been asked to ensure the payment of their outstanding dues till May 31, otherwise their electricity connections would be disconnected, in this regard.
