QUETTA - At least eight people, including two women, were killed and another wounded when unidentified gunmen stormed house of a tribal elder in Loti area, some 30 kilometers away from restive Dera Bugti district, early on Tuesday.
There was no immediate claim about the responsibility for the attack by any terrorist cell or outfit.
Assistant Commissioner for Quetta, Abdul Jabbar, said unidentified men armed with sophisticated weapons attacked Doda Khan alias Dara Khan’s place, killing the tribal elder and seven members of his family, and wounding a woman.
According to sources, the victims included Doda Khan, his brother Mandra Khan, two sons, two nephews and two women. The injured lady was ferried to district headquarters hospital, and then shifted to PPL Hospital in view of her serious condition.
The motive behind the incident could not be ascertained till the filing of this report. But Deputy Commissioner Shahzaib Kakar did tell newsmen that investigations were in progress.
Following the incident, fear and panic gripped Loti area where a massive contingent of security personnel was deployed. The administration however said the situation was under control now.
Meanwhile, unidentified armed men shot dead Ghulam Nabi Shahwani near Sariab Road. In another violence incident in Quetta, unidentified gunmen mowed down Ghulam Nabi Hazara.
Meanwhile, Anti-Terrorist Force and police carried out a targeted operation in parts of Quetta city rounding up dozens of suspects.
