LAHORE – All PML-Q Federal and State Ministers have submitted resignations to party chief Ch Shujaat Hussain in protest against large-scale loadshedding, lack of cooperation of PPP Ministers and unavailability of funds for development projects. In a meeting held at State Guest House on Monday with Ch Shujaat Hussain in the chair, the Ministers criticised the attitude of major coalition partner and asked the party leadership to come out of the ruling alliance and play the role of Opposition. Deputy Prime Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi, Parliamentarians and other leaders were also present in the informal meeting. Ch Shujaat Hussain sought time from Ministers and promised to take up the issue with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf. As per the sources, the Ministers said that large scale loadshedding and injustice with Punjab in provision of electricity as per due share would make it difficult for the PML-Q to face the masses in the next general elections. They further said that lack of development works and stoppage of ongoing scheme in their constituencies due to non-availability of required funds would make it difficult for them to face voters. They urged the leadership to come out of the government and play the role of an active Opposition party. They said that Opposition’s role in the present scenario would help them in contesting and winning the next elections. Insiders say that Anwar Ali Cheema, Nauman Langrial and Akram Gill were blunt in criticising the PPP and voicing for coming out of the ruling coalition. Former Punjab Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja seconded the views of these vocal Ministers. Ch Shujaat Hussain assured the Ministers that he would talk to the President and Prime Minister for resolving the issue and redressing the grievances of Q-League Ministers. PML-Q Ministers had earlier used resignations to pressurise major coalition partner to get share as per their strength. Critics believe that it can be pressure tactics of Ministers to resolve outstanding issues and get funds for development work in their constituencies.
