COAS celebrates Eid with troops; lauds their courage

RAWALPINDI- General Raheel Sharif, Chief of  Army Staff (COAS) visited North Wazirastan Agency(NWA) to celebrate Eid with Troops on the front lines, busy in operation Zarb-e-Azb and stayed overnight at Miranshah Camp. On arrival, Operation Commander briefed the COAS on progress of the operation.

According to ISPR, COAS expressed his complete satisfaction over the achievements and progress of the operation made so far in North Waziristan Agency. Later while interacting with troops, COAS appreciated their high state of morale, courage and determination in execution of the operation. He advised them to stay focused on speedy and skillful conduct of operation against all terrorists. Now that their command and communication infrastructure had been disrupted, we will never allow them to return.

He also spoke on the need to strengthen our border mechanism to prevent any infiltration from across the border to undermine the effects of operation. He paid rich tributes to Shuhada and the wounded, which have rendered supreme sacrifice for defense of the country. He vowed that we will not stop short of eradicating this menace of terrorism from across the country. He also emphasized that only with sustained focus of the entire nation; we can jointly accomplish our objective of a terror free Pakistan.

Later, COAS visited IDP Camp Bannu to spend time with tribal brethren from NWA. While speaking to IDPs, COAS assured them of the commitment and wholehearted support of the Army and the nation in providing them not only relief but in executing an ultimate resettlement plan for them.
Acknowledging the cooperation and sacrifices rendered by our brave tribal brethren in fight against terrorists, COAS reiterated that together we will bring peace, development and prosperity to this region.

He also appreciated the troops and all other agencies involved in the IDP Affairs for their hard work. He hoped that with an improved coordination between all stakeholders involved at various levels, relief work will further improve ensuring better resource mobilization and distribution. Earlier on arrival, he was received at MiranShah by Peshawar Corps Commander, Lt Gen Khalid Rabbani.
