QUETT A man was shot dead in Quetta on Sunday while gunmen kidnapped driver and cleaner of a Nato oil tanker in Machh area of Bolan district. According to police, a man, Habibullah, was on his way near bus stop Nawa Killi, Quetta when armed assailants opened indiscriminate fire on him. He sustained multiple bullet wounds and was rushed to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Police officials quoting eyewitnesses said two masked attackers riding a motorbike opened fire on deceased and swiftly escaped from the scene. Investigation into the killing is underway to ascertain motives behind the murder, they added. Police after completing legal formalities handed over the body to heirs and started further investigation into the murder. In another incident, unidentified armed men kidnapped driver and cleaner of a Nato tanker near Harrak area of Machh, 35 Km southeast of Quetta. Levies officials said, a tanker carrying fuel for Nato forces stationed in Afghanistan was passing from Machh area of Bolan district when gunmen signalled it to stop. They opened fire at vehicle compelling driver to stop. Kidnappers made driver and cleaner hostage at gunpoint as they stop vehicle and drove them away towards unspecified location after bundling them into the vehicle, they added. Levies Force personnel rushed to the site after being informed and launched a manhunt to recover kidnapped driver and cleaner. It can be an incident of kidnapping for ransom, a Levies official said. However, no group has claimed responsibility for kidnapping the driver and cleaner of Nato tanker.
