PPP to focus on attracting foreign investments: Minister

PESHAWAR  - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister, Rahimdad Khan here Tuesday said Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) would give high priority to attract foreign investment in the country if voted to power again and will provide a congenial atmosphere to investors.
Talking to APP here at his office, the Minister said numerous opportunities for foreign investors are available in our country especially in the engineering, power textile, construction, horticulture and manufacturing sectors for investment.
The Minister said foreign investment for repair and reconstruction of schools,health,communication and other infrastructure, which were destroyed due to terrorism and militancy,would highly be welcomed.
The Minister said the Government has offered equal treatment to local and foreign investors and most of the sectors are open for foreign investment under complete legal protection.
Similarly, he said PPP would also accord high focus on eradication of poverty, illiteracy and unemployment from the country if voted to power again.
He said the government has reinstated the employees sacked during Mian Nawaz Sharif government and provided a honourable source of income to their families. 
“The reinstatement of sacked employees is in line with the policy of the democratic government as provision of jobs to them is one of the major parts of PPP’s manifesto,” he maintained.
The Minister said it was the first time thhat share of provinces in the National Finance Commission (NFC) award has been enhanced. The government has given identity to Pakhtoons and restored the 1973 constitution in its original forms, he said, adding the amendments in the constitution were also implemented.
Another promise for restoration of law and order situation in Malaknd division was also fulfilled, he said, adding next general election would be held on time and rejected the speculations of any delay in this regard.
The government, he said, has introduced a constitutional mechanism for holding free, fair and transparent election and the appointment of a consensus Chief Election Commission Fakhruddin G Abrahim was a step towards this positive direction.
He said democracy has started flushing in the country and if all the state institutions work under its constitutional domain problems of masses would be addressed and the country would move forward.
The Minister said the country was passing through difficult time and was confronted with several challenges that could be tackled with political wisdom and unity.
He said President Asif Ali Zardari was pursuing the reconciliation policy in line with vision of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed to make the country a prosperous and developed.
He urged party workers to inform masses about government achievements and start preparations for election.
