FAISALABAD - Punjab Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah has said that Aiwan-e-Sadr has become the epicenter of political activities and his party will approach Supreme Court to dismantle it.
The provincial minister stated this while addressing “Meet the Press programme” at Faisalabad Press Club here on Tuesday. “In the light of the Supreme Court (SC) verdict in Asghar Khan case, former army chiefs - Gen (r) Aslam Beg and Gen (r) Asad Durrani should be arrested and investigated and the facts be made public in this regard, he demanded. Rana Sanaullah claimed that the FIA track record proved that any inquiry to be conducted by it could not be considered credible. He said that Younas Habib was a convict and a man of dubious character.
He argued that the SC expunged 8 paragraphs from the written statement presented by Younas Habib in the court during the hearing of Asghar Khan case, adding that had these paragraphs not been expunged, ban would have been imposed on the PPP. “I will get made these paragraphs part of the inquiry during investigation against the generals, he announced.
The Punjab minister termed that the SC decision as a ray of hope in the prevailing darkness. If it is implemented with good intent, it can brighten democracy and future of the country, he underlined. He, however, accused the PPP indulgence in scoring point rather than implementing the decision. Sana said that Establishment should be made subservient to democratic institutions to ensure supremacy of democracy. He charged that corruption and corrupt practices had remained the sole agenda of PPP during the last four and half years in rule, adding that loot and plunder and not supremacy of democratic institutions had been the top priority of PPP. That’s way not a single resolution adopted by the parliament could be implemented, he added.
He said govt did not take any workable step to stamp out terrorism and nor it had taken military leadership into confidence in this respect. He stressed that there was no need for launching any military operation in Waziristan, adding that his party would resist if PPP tried to delay the general elections under the pretext any such of operation.
Sana termed the prevailing energy crisis as incompetence on the part of the govt. He claimed that the PML-N if voted to power would overcome energy crisis within 3 to 5 years. He stated the prevailing wave of terrorism originated from Musharraf regime and the govt was pursuing Musharraf policies. The provincial minister went on to say that Nawaz would not become part of any undemocratic act of President Zardari. The notions of understanding between these two leaders are being aired by the opponents, he pointed out. He said that Imran tsunami had turned out Poras elephant which was trampling its own army and this was giving clear message that PTI would lose its existence.
