IED blast kills five soldiers in SWA

PESHAWAR - At least five soldiers were killed and four sustained injuries when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in South Waziristan Agency on Wednesday morning.
Security officials said the roadside bomb planted by militants went off at village Zatrai in South Waziristan Agency at 9:30 am. Two personnel of the security forces embraced martyrdom at the scene while three of the four others seriously wounded later succumbed to their injuries.
The security forces later cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. However, the security forces had made no arrest till filing of this report.
There were no immediate claims of responsibility for either attack.
“Number of martyred soldiers due to IED (Improvised Explosive Device) attack in South Waziristan has risen up to five,” a senior security official told AFP.
The homemade bombs are a major weapon for militants who attack government forces in Fata. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Wednesday’s blast.
