Published: September 02, 2009

ISLAMABAD - The civil society on Tuesday demanded of the government to allocate sufficient resources for achieving the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) goals by the target year 2015.
Global Partners in Action: NGO Forum for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Development will be commencing a 3-day conference from tomorrow (i.e. September 2, 2009) in Berlin, Germany with the aim to strengthen NGOs working in partnership to advance Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for sustainable development in an uncertain and interdependent world.
The Government of Germany and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) are the co-hosts of this forum, which is being held in connection with the 15th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).
The Berlin conference, which will be attended by over 400 participants from all across the globe, will also be represented by a young Pakistani delegation.
The young leaders participating from Pakistan will be presenting the “Call to Action” devised at the conclusion of “National Youth Forum on ICPD+15”, which was recently held under the auspicious of World Population Foundation (WPF), Pakistan.
The “Call to Action” among other things calls upon the government to extend maximum support to young individuals and youth networks for their meaningful participation at all levels; provide information and health care services related to SRHR; ensure access to Reproductive Health through Primary Health Care (PHC) such as RH education, family planning counseling, safe delivery services, post-natal and safe abortion services to the women population in Pakistan and achieve reduction in infant and maternal mortality.
