KARACHI - The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Friday it has appointed primary dealers for financial year 2009-10.
The central bank through a circular has advised all head of banks/DFIs/investment banks/listed brokerage houses that the following institutions have been selected to act as primary dealers for the financial year 2009-10 (a) Citibank N.A. (b) Habib Bank Limited (c) JS Bank Limited (d) MCB Bank Limited (e) National Bank of Pakistan (f) Pak Oman Investment Company Limited (g) Royal Bank of Scotland Limited (h) Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited (i) United Bank Limited.
CNIC deadline extended
The State Bank of Pakistan has extended the deadline for banks/DFIs for obtaining a copy of computerized national identity card (CNIC) from their customers/clients from June 30 to September 30.
According to SBP circular here Friday, this extension has been allowed by SBP on the basis of representations received from banks, indicating difficulties in meeting the earlier deadline of June 30, 2009.
Banks/DFIs shall continue to provide information to the State Bank on the progress made in obtaining a copy of CNIC from their customers on fortnightly basis within seven days of the close of each fortnight as per the prescribed format.
