KCCI calls for warehouse facility to help boost exports

KARACHI (APP) - President, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad on Thursday urged the Government to arrange warehousing facility for marketing Pakistani products in various countries having potential markets.
During a call-on meeting with Pakistans High Commissioner- designate to Australia, Ms. Fauzia Nasreen here at KCCI, President Karachi Chamber emphasised upon her that like in Kenya, Pakistani mission in Australia should lobby to set up standard warehousing facility in Sydney which is very much needed to easily market Pakistani goods in Australia.
Our focus should be to minimise trade deficit with Australia by increasing and diversifying Pakistans exports there. At present, textile, cotton yarn, rice, leather are the major export items from Pakistan. While the imports from Australia include iron ore, agriculture products, cattle, oil seed, chemicals and that trade is in favour of Australia.
He stressed on strengthening Pakistans Commercial Consulate in Sydney capable enough to achieve the desired results.
Senior Vice President KCCI Rasheed-ud-Din Rashid emphasised on exchange of information on trade and investment opportunities available in both the countries. Pakistani business community needs Government support and availability of passage to increase trade with Australia.
He said Pakistans mission in Australia should ensure better communication with Pakistani business community here and arrange their interaction with Australian Chambers of Commerce and the Companies.
He spoke of KCCIs annual trade event My Karachi where foreign companies are offered many incentives and that Pakistan mission in Australia should properly project this avenue and convince the companies there to participate in this international trade event.
Pakistans High Commissioner-designate to Australia, Ms. Fauzia Nasreen sought proposals from KCCI and assured to make her best possible efforts for increasing Pakistans trade to Australia.
