Differences between PIA, Palpa re-emerge

KARACHI - The dispute between Pakistan International Airline (PIA) management and Pakistan Airline Pilot Association (PALPA) emerged again as pilots blamed that the management was not taking any interest in implementing the agreement that on the basis of which the PALPA postponed protest and provided extra cooperation to PIA, the Nation has learnt on Tuesday.
Sources said it was decided in the meeting that PIA would release the admin order till 30th April, regarding implementation of the agreement. It was guaranteed by the Ministry of Defence who was mediator and guarantor between the two parties and promised that PIA will implement the agreement.
“One week has passed now and nothing has been done so far as MD camp office is using delaying tactics as far as the fulfilment of the agreement between PIA and PALPA is concerned,” said the source. “PALPA is planning to stop the extra cooperation and extra flights,” he added.
On a query, he added that they had contacted time and again to PIA bosses for the implementation of the agreement but they did not respond positively.
Instead of implementing the agreement, PIA has once again invited PALPA for further talk which was a clear sign that they are delaying deliberately.
PIA management never mentioned that it is against the implementation of the agreement but at the same time the dead line of releasing the order has been passed. PALPA officials said they would wait for some days and if they did not release admin order in coming days which was due on 30th April than PALPA will part its way from PIA for extra cooperation. PALPA source said that they had informed the guarantor of the agreement, Ministry of Defense about the present situation.
