KARACHI - The Chinese pirated copies of branded cell phones hit the market this time with copy of BlackBerry with the name of BlueBerry, the Nation has learnt.
It is observed that the sale of Chinese pirated copies of branded cell phones still go uncheck despite the fact that the copyrights checking authority has been given under the authority of FIA.
It is also noteworthy that the copies of even those mobiles phones are available which have not been announced by the branded copies such as the copy of Nokias 6303 which is not yet launched by the Nokia, while Nokia N97, similar to i-fone, is available in Chinese model which is not available with Nokia.
The other copies of branded mobile phones include i-fone mini, HTC Diamond, Apple, Armani Samsung, LG Viewty are available having special features, which are not available in branded versions, like double-sim, 1.23 mega pixel camera, flash light, torch light, full touch screen. It is interesting to note that such cell phones batteries, headphones, chargers, memory cards of 1Gp and other internal accessories are replaced with Nokias parts.
The copy of Nokias LC6 has function of Urdu Language which is rare to be found in such mobiles, while the Chinese models S1000 catches TV channels and N568 has TV out put.
The copies of companies include big names such as Nokia, Samsung, LG, Apple, while the Chinese companies are Sigma Tech, G five, Sigmatel, MFU, Nktel, and others.
All such mobiles are cheap and rank from Rs 4,000 to 9,000 besides this i-pod is available in Rs 2,000. The demand of China-made cell phones has been increasing among the low-income people day-by-day and the best justification is that they are cheap which ranges from Rs 3,000 to 8,000 for example Nokia 6300 is of Rs 10,800 while its copy with dual sim is available in just Rs 4,000.
Besides completely assembled, or made, copies of branded cell phones are also available but only first copy comes to Pakistan and second and third copy is usually sent to Afghanistan or other regions. The first copy of any branded cell phone is very similar to the original due to its quality finishing. The household name of Chinese cell phones are Nktel series A200, A2000, A300 which have been demanded by the customer and among the reasons of their popularity are double sim, memory card, repairable and less-problematic.
The positive thing of Chinese mobile phones is that they do not get snatched nor they can be blocked through IMIE number.
Considering such fact, the branded companies are now thinking to tackle this technical presentation of Chinese mobiles and for that matter Nokia 5310 is provided with small speakers.
Most of the warranties, 6 months or 1 year, for Chinese mobile phones are fake and home-made which are given by pseudo companies at the rate of Rs50 for 6 months, because Chinese companies do not give any warranty so whatever sort of warranty is given to the customer is shopkeepers warranty which is not reliable in any case.
One shortcoming of Chinese mobiles is that they are not durable and mostly they expired within a year. One of the issues the Chinese mobiles are facing these days is the current downfall in importing Chinese mobiles because the duty has been increased.
Earlier, in Musharraf regime, traders used to import Chinese mobiles in bulk quantity because at the time duty on a cell-phone set was just Rs 120, but now importers have to pay a high duty of Rs 1,000 per set thats why the this trend is plummeted.
The customs department is responsible for that because the traders used to import 20 to 25 thousand Chinese mobile phones are now restricted to just 100 mobile sets. However, they now also make illegal imports through unregistered traders to save such heavy duties.
