President stresses joint investments to strengthen economy

BOAO (China) (APP) - President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday said Pakistan wishes to achieve its objective of a robust economy through partnerships, joint investments and fundings for infrastructure development and industrial growth in the country.
Talking to Lou Jiwei Chairman and CEO of Corporation (CIC) China Investment Corporation and Levin Zhou CEO China International Capital Corporation (CICC), who separately called on him on the sidelines of Boao Forum for Asia, the President said Pakistan can gain a lot from Chinas experience in all areas.
Minister of State for Information Sumsan Ali Bukhari later told the media that President in his meeting with Levin Zhou CEO China International Capital Corporation (CICC) sought more investment in Pakistans hydro power and infrastructure development projects and said it would go a long way in generating economic activity and employment opportunities.
The President urged CICC to consider the possibility of collaboration in banking and financial sectors between the two countries by setting up consortiums to invest in Pakistan.
Established in 1995 as a strategic partnership among prestigious Chinese and international financial institutions and corporations, CICC is the first joint venture investment bank in China with a registered capital of US$125 million. It is currently involved in investment banking, capital markets, sales and trading, asset management and private equity.
The Minister of State for Information said President Zardari while talking to Lou Jiwei Chairman and CEO of Corporation (CIC) China Investment Corporation, that deals with countrys $200 billion sovereign wealth fund urged him to invest in Pakistan, as the country provides ample opportunities for foreign entrepreneurs.
About Presidents address to the forum, Bukhari said the President touched the hearts and minds of the gathering by pointing towards a key issue that was a threat to the region and world peace.
He also pointed that the leaders gathered at the BFA keenly noted President Zardaris views and the issue he raised. He said both the events; at Tokyo and Boao were significant as the President raised countrys stature and reflected the success of the policies being pursued by the Pakistan Peoples Party government.
