Textile industry issues to be resolved: Farooq

ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Textile Industry Rana Farooq Saeed Khan has said that the government is committed to resolving all textile related matters on priority basis and efforts are underway to provide maximum assistance to boost textile industry.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting to discuss 'Emerging trends in cotton yarn markets here on Wednesday. Different stakeholders related to textile industry attended the meeting.
The meeting observed that cotton yarn prices had been increased up to 30 percent since previous month and non-availability of yarn had become major threat for textile industry.
The meeting also discussed about the increasing cotton prices, availability of yarn in markets and their export. Stakeholders exchanged views openly. Garment Industrialists expressed concerns over increasing price of cotton and non-availability of yarn in the market.
Federal Minister said that government was playing vital role to boost textile industry. He further said that we have made the best efforts to minimize the effects of ongoing energy crises on textile sector. We are committed to implement first ever Textile Policy of Pakistan with strong spirits he added. Moreover, Federal Minister listened comments and suggestions of the participants with deep concentration.
Rana Farooq Saeed assured the meeting that the government would take legal action against those involved in betting. He said all highlighted issues, suggestions and ideas would be put up in cabinet meeting on textile to be held tomorrow (Friday). He said his ministry would provide full support and cooperation in this regard.
Federal Secretary Dr. Waqar Masood Khan and other senior officers of the Ministry of Textile Industry also attended the meeting.
