Inflation increases slightly

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended on November 19, for the lowest income group upto Rs.3,000, has registered increase of 0.60 percent over the previous week.
The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 244.63 as against 243.16 registered in the previous week that ended on November 12, according provisional figures of Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).
The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2000-2001=100 covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.
SPI for the combined group also increased by 0.32 per cent as it went up from 231.78 in the previous week to 232.52 in the week under review.
As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for combined group in the week under review witnessed increase of 9.86 percent.
As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups ranging from Rs.3001-5000, Rs.5001-12000 and above Rs.12000 increased by 0.51 percent, 0.39 1 percent and 0.19 percent respectively.
Average prices of the following 20 items registered increase during the week under review including tomatoes, onions, moong pulse (washed), potatoes, garlic, gram (washed), mash (washed), bananas (dozen), tea (prepared) cup, red chillies, L.P.G.( 11 Kg cylinder), tea packet (250 gm), firewood (40 kg), vegetable ghee (loose), mutton, wheat average quality, beef, coarse latha meter and wheat flour average quality.
During the week under review prices of seven items witnessed decreased including chicken (farm) kg, rice irri-6 (kg), sugar, rice basmati (broken), gur egg hen (farm) and masoor pulse (washed).
The items that witnessed no change in their prices during the week under review included bread plain (mid.size), milk fresh litre, milk powdered (nido 400 gm), curd, vegetable ghee tin 2.5 kg, cooking oil tin 2.5 litre, salt powdered, cooked beef plate, cooked dal plate, cigarettes (k-2), lawn meter, voil printed meter, shirting meter, sandal gents bata (pair), sandal ladies bata (pair), chappal spng, kerosene liter, electric bulb (60 wats), match box, washing soap, bath soap (lifebouy), gas charges, electric charges, petrol liter, diesel liter and telephone local call.
