KCCI assures small traders of full support

KARACHI - A delegation of Saddar Alliance of Markets Association (SAMA), representing the 120 markets alliance of Sadder headed by Talat Mahmood, the visited Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and held a meeting with KCCI President Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad.
The objective of the meeting was to get assurance of KCCI that complaints of small traders of Karachi about government decisions to come out of current crisis of electricity and deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi be discussed with the concerned quarters for immediate appropriate solutions.
Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad briefed about the role of the Chamber to protect the interest of the members of the premier Chamber of the country. This Chamber is all fully engaged in about promotion and representation of businesses running in the biggest metropolitan city being a largest chamber of the country, he informed. He stressed on the importance of small traders as the backbone of the economy of the country. Small traders always played crucial role to have businesses and trades strengthened at all levels resulting increase in national revenue, he added.
Taking part in discussion, Talat Mahmood expressed thanks to Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad, President-KCCI, Javed Ahmed Vohra Vice President, Abdul Majeed Memon, Chairman, Special Committee for Small Traders, Members of Managing Committee-KCCI and other attendees.
During the meeting, members of SAMA pointed out the issues pertaining to the load shedding, bikes and car lifting, increasing utility surcharges and traffic police unlawful gratification.
Answering the issues raised by the members of SAMA, Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad said that on the request of KCCI, the hearing of request of KESC to increase tariffs by NEPRA was convened in Karachi wherein KCCI representative also participated and stressed not to allow KESC to increase the tariffs further and proved that KESCs request was invalid. He asked written requests for the problems so that KCCI may contact the concerned quarters for the solutions to their problems.
