Tevta introduces 'Matric Vocational' for girls

LAHORE - The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) has decided to introduce Matric Vocational for girls at its 15 selective institutions all over Punjab to meet the growing demand of skilled manpower in the developing industry.

The decision was taken at a meeting of TEVTA where approval for restructuring of formation of TEVTA was also accorded.

According to a press release issued here on Friday, the meeting also decided to start short training courses in the areas of agriculture, food preservation, civil technology, refrigeration, air conditioning and information technology to train the required manpower.

To promote the idea of public-private partnership in the interest of industry and economy, proposal to collaborate with University of Management and Technology and establishment of Centre of Excellence in auto sector was endorsed. Also training program in civil technologies at all levels would be implemented to meet the demand of the construction of industry within Pakistan as well as Middle East.

The meeting was attended by Mohsin Syed, Chairman, Chairman of Nestle Syed Yawar Ali, Chairman of Izhar Construction Ltd, Ayub Sabir Izhar, Managing Director Systems Ltd, Aezaz Hussain, Chief Executive Javed Shahid Corporation Mian Shahid Rafi, Rector University of Management & Technology Dr Hassan Sohaib Murad, Representative LCCI SI Butt, Secretary Schools Nadeem Ashraf, Secretary TEVTA Azam Suleman Khan, Additional Secretary Finance Dr Shoaib Akbar, Deputy Secretary Industries Rao Ghulam Hussain and senior officers of TEVTA.
