Germany can help Pak textile industry: cg

KARACHI (APP) - Pakistan’s textile sector can benefit greatly through interaction with German organizations possessing specialized expertise and state-of-the-art know-how of the textile industry.
This was stated by the Consul General of Germany in Karachi, Dr Christian Brecht. He was talking to a 10-member Pakistani delegation that visited Germany recently on a study tour.
The Consul General said that Germany had a lot to offer through its technology and experience of the textile sector and his country was exploring ways and means as to how it could help Pakistan’s textile industry.
The members of the delegation that visited Germany said it was a great learning experience as they had availed an opportunity to see the latest equipment and also exchange views and ideas.
They said their nine-day stay was a multidimensional study which had been well-planned and arranged and had proved educative and informative.
The delegation included two representatives each from five major textile associations namely, Towel Manufactures, Association of Pakistan (TMA), all Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA), Pakistan Cloth Merchants Association (PCMA), Pakistan Hosiery Manufactures Association (PHMA), Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufactures and Exporters Associations (PRGMEA).
The visit was a study tour on management of business association and cleaner production in the textile industry and was part of a project funded by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.
Another objective was to enable the delegation to maximize their knowledge about innovations in the textile industry regarding design and technology, education and research for textile sector, in renewable energies and on organization and services of a modern business association.
The delegation also attended Heimtextil, Europe largest Home Textiles Trade fair, during its visit.
It was pointed out that Germany is the world leader in renewable energy and waste water treatment technologies, and this advantage was used for the benefit of the delegation to get a first hand look at the products and technologies available which if installed in Pakistan and its textile industry, can help in reduction of energy shortages and cut pollution.
