Venice film festival 2008 winners

VENICE (AFP) - The Venice film festival jury led by German director Wim Wenders bestowed the following awards on Saturday:

- Golden Lion for best film: “The Wrestler,” by Darren Aronofsky starring Mickey Rourke (US)

- Silver Lion for best director: Aleksei German jr., for “Paper Soldier” (Russia)

- Special jury prize: “Teza,” by Haile Gerima (Ethiopia)

- Coppa Volpi for best actor: Silvio Orlando, “Il Papa di Giovanna” (Italy)

- Coppa Volpi for best actress: Dominique Blanc, “L’Autre” (France)

-Marcello Mastroianni award for best young actor or actress: Jennifer Lawrence, “The Burning Plain” (US)
