Charlie Sheen spends Christmas Day in jail

CHARLIE Sheen spent Christmas Day in jail after his wife accused him of physically attacking her during a bitter argument.
The feud erupted Christmas morning after Sheen, the star of Channel 9s sitcom sensation Two and a Half Men, flew to Colorado from LA to spend time with wife Brooke Mueller and their twin boys, Max and Bob. The pair had been living apart and had simmering marital problems.
Soon after Sheen arrived at their $7.5 million Aspen chalet, he and Mueller began arguing until Sheen allegedly throttled Mueller, US reports said.
Police claimed Sheen blew 0.04 while Mueller registered 0.13 on their blood alcohol tests, celebrity website TMZ reported. It was unclear why a blood alcohol test was needed.
Sheen is the highest paid actor in US television and takes home $825,000 per episode on Two and a Half Men, which is also a ratings juggeraut for Channel 9. It averages 1.2 million Australian viewers and is consistently in the top 10 most watched shows. And, despite many episodes being repeated, it still trounces its competition, including The 7PM Project. But Sheens private life has had many ups and downs. The latest drama began about 8:30am, local time, when real estate investor Mueller, 29, placed a 911 call to police. Police arrived about three hours later and arrested 44-year-old Sheen, whose big screen credits include Platoon, Major League and Wall Street.
The Sheriffs Department spokeswoman said: Officer Rick Magnuson placed Carlos Irwin Estevez, also known as Charlie Sheen, under arrest for second degree assault - a class four felony, menacing - a class five felony, and criminal mischief - a class one misdemeanour. Aspen Ambulance responded to the scene. The victim did not require transport to the hospital.
An ambulance was called to the scene, but Aspen police spokeswoman Stephanie Dasaro said the alleged victim did not have to be taken to hospital.
Police did not name the alleged victim, but multiple reports in the US named her as Mueller. Sheen spent the day languishing in the Pitkin County Jail before posting bail to secure his release for $A8700 last night. HS
He mounted a fierce public defence, suggesting his wife was to blame for the fight. Do not be mislead by appearance, his publicist Stan Rosenfield said. Appearance and reality can be as different as night and day. It would benefit everyone not to jump to any conclusion.
Sheen told police that Mueller had started the fight, insisting he was defending himself, TMZ reported. He was imprisoned under his real name, Carlos Irwin Estevez.
Mueller has been renting a home in Aspen for the past three months while Sheen worked in LA, Radaronline reported. Despite their separate living arrangements, Sheen had flown to Colorado to visit her for Christmas. HS
