Death toll in South Africa bus crash rises to 31

Police in South Africa said on Wednesday that the death toll in an accident when a bus plunged into a river in the northeastern Mpumalanga province has risen to 31. "The death toll in the accident which happened yesterday has risen from 27 to 31," police spokesman superintendent Abie Khoabane told foreign news agency. The accident happened after the driver lost control of the bus and 27 people were killed on the spot. Four others died later, he said. Twenty-nine others were injured in the crash, he added.
