Taiwan's former president Chen Shui-bian was arrested on Tuesday as prosecutors sought formal approval to detain him in connection with a corruption probe, officials said. "Chen has been arrested and we are seeking approval of the Taipei district court to formally detain him," investigation spokesman Chen Yun-nan told foreign news agency. If the prosecutors' demand met, Chen would become the first former Taiwanese president to be formally taken into custody.
