9 killed in Turkey train accident
June 23, 2008 Nine people were killed and three were injured in Turkey when a freight train rammed into a minibus, which was passing a level crossing despite warnings to stop, the state-run railways said Monday. The accident occurred overnight near the town of Nurdagi in the southeastern Gaziantep province when the bus driver tried to cross over the tracks despite closed barriers, flashing lights and a warning bell, a TCDD statement said. The driver survived the accident.
