6 get death for Dalit murders
September 24, 2008 MUMBAI (AFP) - An Indian court on Wednesday sentenced to death six people who were found guilty of murdering members of a low-caste Hindu family, a crime that sparked violence and outrage.
The court gave life sentences to two others who were found guilty last week. The woman, her daughter and two sons were attacked by a mob over a land dispute in a village near the city of Nagpur in September 2006.
