We need a rescue plan, says Bush
September 26, 2008 US President George W. Bush made a fresh push Friday to unlock stalled negotiations on a massive financial rescue plan, warning "we've got a big problem" and stressing "we need a rescue plan." "The legislative process is sometimes not very pretty, but we are going to get a package passed. We will rise to the occasion, Republicans and Democrats will come together and pass a substantial rescue plan," he said. "There are disagreements over aspects of the rescue plan -- but there is no disagreement that something substantial must be done," he said, one day after unprecedented White House crisis talks failed to yield a breakthrough.
