China and Russia to hold energy talks later this year: Beijing

July 29, 2008

China and Russia will hold their second round of talks on energy cooperation in Moscow later this year, the Chinese foreign ministry said Tuesday. The news follows a visit by Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin to Beijing over the weekend, where he met with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Vice Premier Wang Qishan to launch a dialogue on energy cooperation. "We hope the two countries can enhance cooperation in energy development and make more progress in this area," foreign ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao told reporters. "Energy cooperation is part of the whole strategy of trade and economic cooperation."
