ISLAMABAD - In order to facilitate the residents as wells as livestock traders, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to set up sacrificial animals market in Sector I-11/4 of the federal capital. Livestock market to be set up in I-11/4 near Afghan Basti for 14 days from November 19 to December 2.
CDA officials have strictly prohibited the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals elsewhere in the city except the announced venue.
“If any small or big market of animals has been established elsewhere then the authority will be liable to confiscate the sacrificial animals besides imposition of heavy fine on the violator,” an official in CDA warned. He described that the authority had also chalked out a comprehensive security and traffic plan for the livestock market and its adjacent areas. “For big animals like cows and camels, the entry fee would be Rs 50 while for small animals like goats, sheep etc would be Rs 30 for the livestock traders.
Cattle sellers have started bringing sacrificial animals to the twin cities, as the demand of sacrificial animals would get momentum ahead of Eidul Azha in few days. However, middle class circles feared that due to skyrocketing prices of other commodities, the rates of sacrificial animals would also remain out of common man’s reach. Due to security concerns, the city managers have also decided to set up only one market in I-11/4 in suburbs of capital to avert any untoward incident.
It was also learnt that at first the authorities have decided to establish market in the outskirts of city in Tarnol and Tarlai areas, however, later they withdraw this plan.
Meanwhile, a large number of websites offering goats, cows and camels for the upcoming Eidul Azha have also sprung up on the inter net. Some people also claimed that they were receiving messages from such net-traders in this regard regularly nowadays. They have also placed pictures of animals along with prices in their messages. These websites accept credit cards and other modes of payment through inter-net like Pay Pal etc and say that the selected animal will be delivered at the doorstep of the purchaser the next day.
They claimed that buying a sacrificial animal on the inter-net was hassle free and without any bargaining because of competitive prices. They said this also saved time of the people.
