Sindh government to trace missing persons

KARACHI - The Sindh government has finally decided to address the issue of missing persons belonging to Sindh and started working out to trace them.
The provincial government would also contact the federal interior ministry to get complete details with exact number about the missing persons as a task force under the chairmanship of provincial home secretary has been established to work out in this regard, informed sources told The Nation on Monday.
Sources said that on the directives of Chief Secretary Sindh, Fazalur Rehman, a task force under the chairmanship of home secretary, Arif Ahmed Khan, had been established for tracing out missing persons including Dr Aafia Siddiqui, and to submit comprehensive reply based on correct, accurate and verified information to satisfy the families of missing persons.
They said that the first meeting of the committee was held some days back to start the process and reviewing cases of the missing persons.
Khan informed the participants of the meeting about the directives of the interior ministry regarding missing persons. He expressed that arrest of any person by any agency in criminal cases or other cases and bring this on record can be accepted but completely missing of any person is a very serious issue which cannot be tolerated at any cost.
It was informed in the meeting according to the reports received from ministry of interior, Islamabad, that there were 12 cases of missing persons out of which 5 have already been traced out while two people did not belong to Sindh.
The remaining 5 cases of missing persons were discussed in the meeting including Dr Afia Siddiqui, Bashir Ahmed Shah, Sameer, Zulfiqar Kolachi and Ali Muhammad.
The sources mentioned that the cases of missing persons Gul Muhammad and Gulzar Lone were not discussed in detail because they did not belong to Sindh.
Missing persons, who are still untraced, identified as Muhammad Ibrahim, whose complete address is not available, Muhammad Israr and Khan Muhammad Chang, their performas have been sent to Islamabad, Jahangir and Qari Muhammad Aslam, their performas could not be filled due to incomplete addresses.
